Royal Caribbean’s Royal Beach Club Santorini: What We Know!

When Royal Caribbean first announced that Europe’s first Royal Beach Club would be coming to Santorini, we weren’t quite sure what to expect.

Royal Beach Club Paradise Island in Nassau made sense. The Caribbean is Royal’s backyard. But Santorini? A volcanic black-sand beach in Greece? That felt like a bold first step into Europe’s private destination space filled with tons of beach clubs.

At first, details were limited. We knew it would be exclusive to Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, and Silverseas guests. We knew transportation would be included. And we knew it would be positioned as a premium beach day.

But beyond that… there was still a lot to be annnounced!

Now, with more information officially released, we finally have a clearer picture of what Royal Caribbean is planning!

What We Know Now About Royal Beach Club Santorini

Royal has confirmed that this won’t be a private island like CocoCay. Instead, the Royal Beach Club Santorini is taking over and transforming an existing beach club along Santorini’s iconic volcanic coastline and operating like an Excursion, like the new Royal Beach Club in Nassau.

Now, is this going to feel authentically Greek or not?

This was a major question I had when first announced. When I sailed the Mediterranean a few years ago, one of my favorite parts was experiencing the culture of the different places.

From the latest visuals and details, it looks like they’re leaning heavily into the Mediterranean vibe.

Here’s what guests can expect:

Exclusive Black Sand Beach Access

Santorini’s famous volcanic black-sand beach will be reserved exclusively for Royal Beach Club guests. Think:

This isn’t just “a beach stop.” It’s a controlled, curated beach day, something that can be very appealing in a port that’s often crowded.

All-You-Can-Eat Mediterranean Buffet

This is one of the bigger updates.

Guests will have unlimited access to a Greek-inspired buffet featuring authentic Mediterranean flavors. From quick bites like gyros to local dishes and even frozen Greek yogurt for dessert, it’s positioned as a full culinary experience, not just snack service.

For a port like Santorini, where restaurants can be pricey, having food included is a big value add.

All-You-Can-Drink Package Included

Unlimited beer, house wine, coffee, and non-alcoholic beverages are included.

This is key.

In Europe, beach club days can add up quickly between food and drinks. Bundling it into one excursion price makes this much more predictable for cruise guests.

Elevated Beach Amenities

Royal is marketing this as more than just loungers on the sand. The club will include:

That transportation piece is huge. Santorini tendering can be chaotic, and navigating to beaches independently takes time. Having everything arranged simplifies the day.

The “Ultimate Santorini Day” Option

Another interesting update is the Ultimate Santorini Day excursion.

This option combines the Royal Beach Club experience with visits to:

So instead of choosing between exploring the iconic cliffside villages or relaxing at the beach, guests can do both in a structured three-stop tour.

For first-time Santorini visitors, like myself, this now makes visiting the beach club a little more enticing. Like I said before, experiencing the culture means a lot to me, and if I can do a little of both, even better!

Why This Makes Sense for Royal Caribbean

Let’s zoom out for a second.

Santorini is one of the most beautiful cruise ports in the world, but it’s also one of the most crowded. Between multiple ships in port, narrow cliffside streets, and limited beach infrastructure, it can feel overwhelming.

Royal Beach Club Santorini does three important things:

  1. Creates a controlled environment away from the tender chaos
  2. Offers predictable pricing in a premium European destination
  3. Keeps guests spending within the Royal ecosystem

From a business standpoint? It’s smart.

From a guest standpoint? It could be a game-changer, especially for cruisers who prefer structure over DIY exploration. It is also worth noting that, depending on daily availability, local Greek residents can get tickets and spend the day at the beach club.

Our Honest Take

When this was first announced, we weren’t entirely sold.

We wondered:

Now that we’ve seen more details, it’s starting to feel like a thoughtfully curated Mediterranean beach day, with the option to explore different towns, rather than a copy-and-paste Royal Beach Club concept.

Is this something we’d recommend to everyone?

Not necessarily.

If you’ve been to Santorini before and love wandering independently, you might still prefer doing your own thing. Especially if there are different restaurants and things you look forward to going back to!

But if:

This could be a desirable option.

Final Thoughts

Royal Caribbean taking over an existing Santorini beach club and transforming it into Europe’s first Royal Beach Club is a bold move.

And now that we’re seeing the full picture: beautiful black sand beach access, unlimited Mediterranean cuisine and drinks, transportation handled, and optional village visits, it’s looking more intentional than we initially thought.

We’re officially moving from “we’re not sure about this” to “okay… this might actually be really good.”

What do you think: would you book the Royal Beach Club Santorini, or explore on your own?
